Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park

Why do people love it so much?

Lockdown was officially over, and I was happy.. we were “free!”, but I didn’t crave going to the shops, cinemas or even the pub… I craved a camping trip, even if it was only for a couple of nights and close to home.

Over the years of living here, many locals have raved to me about this Holiday Park, it seems to be the place to go when it comes to Caravan parks around here. I couldn’t really understand how it could be so awesome, so I packed up the new van, and drove the half hour to the Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park, excited to see what all the fuss is about.

On arrival to the Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park it seemed to me to be like most other caravan parks. That was until, after setting up, we went out to explore and realised very quickly that the park is in the most amazing location.

Now, I have lived in Lake Macquarie for 27 years and I am not really into swimming in the Lake, its a bit weedy in parts, quite deep and not necessarily great for kids to swim in, in my opinion…BUT the Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park is situated in the best spot on the Lake, and it has changed my persepetion about swimming in Lake Macquarie dramatically!

While exploring we came to the back end of the park, and the gates that led out onto a shady flat grassed area which joins Lake Macquarie’s edge. The water here was clear and shallow, nothing like I had experienced before at the lake. People gathered to see the glorious sunset, that first night we were there, with beer or wine in hand, the community vibe was awesome…so much so that we ran into people we knew! During the day the vibe intensified!. People from the Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park moved out through the gates right after breakfast, to secure their spot for the day, and launched their Sups and Kayaks straight from the edge, before heading out to explore Lake Macquarie by water. Children played safely and easily in the water because it is so shallow, and as motorised water craft are not allowed to come in close, so you don’t have to worry about anyones Jet Skis coming into shore. People enjoyed the sunshine all day here, soaking up the warm weather, and making memories with family and friends.

For visitors to Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park, this is the major drawcard for sure, as someone said to me ‘It feels like you could be anywhere, not just half hour from home” and I definitely agree!

While the Lake is a highlight, that is not all the Swansea Holiday Park has to offer… a heated accessible swimming pool, tennis court, Put Put golf, Bike Hire, awesome camp kitchen, parents retreat, playground, lovely amenities blocks, both grassy powered and unpowered sites as well as a variety of luxurious lakeside cabins to choose from … and all in a short distance to shops and some of Lake Macquarie’s best beaches…. it is definitely somewhere you want to check out!

Thank you Swansea Lakeside Holiday Park for proving to me that the rumours were right! You really are a great Holiday Park!
