Sandboarding with 4WD Tours R US

Have you ever been sandboarding?

Would you like to give it a try?

For about 12 months the kids and I have been wanting to give sand boarding a try again. We previously have given sand boarding a go on Kangaroo Island ( you can read about it by clicking here) and we had also been given a short go as part of our Sunrise trip to Tin City ( which you can read about by clicking here!)

Now the kids, and I are older, and braver, so we took ourselves back to Anna Bay to hit the Sand Dunes with 4wd Tours R Us.

We arrived straight after checking out for the local caravan park and got to the 4WD Tours R Us van just before 10am. It wasn’t long before we were riding in the bus, bouncing along over the sand dunes which had me hanging on to the sides of my chair as not to fall off!. Soon enough our sand boarding site came into sight, rolling hills of varying heights ready to challenge us, and after a short intro from our instructor, it was up to us to decide which hill to tackle first.

We all decided that at some time during the morning we would attempt to stand up on the board.. we figured it would be just like snow boarding, right? Firstly though, we thought that we would make sure we conquered sitting down on the board, so we grabbed our boards and went straight to the medium size hill. Sitting down on the board resting my feet against the ridge, I placed my hands as instructed along the sand and I flew down the hill. Your hands act as a brake and slow you down if you feel like you are out of control. Each of us had our own limits, both with the size of the hill and how fast we each wanted to go, and the 4WD tours RUS sand dune space was perfect for all of us. The reality is though, we were all heading up to slide down the highest slope in no time and racing each other as fast as we could!

And what about standing up on the board? Well… we all had a try and lets just say some of us (ie: the kids.. ) were better then others! (ie: Me!)
