Bygone Beautys… More than a Tearoom! 3

I have a very special birthday coming up, not mine but my mums. It is her 75th Birthday this year and I wanted to have a special day with her and my sister. I knew that I wanted to go up to the Blue Mountains, but my experience of the mountains includes camping and bush walks…. definitely not the type of day I was looking for to celebrate my mums birthday. Eventually after some intense research, including connecting with others on Instagram, I discovered the unique Bygone Beautys.

You will find Bygone Beautys situated in the gorgeous Blue Moutains Suburb of Leura. We booked in for 10am and arrived just in time for our scones to come fresh and warm out of the oven. Presented to us with jam and cream and our choice of tea we sat down surrounded by teapots. Actually, to say we were surrounded is probably an understatement, I don’t know the word for what we were experiencing… you literally couldn’t look anywhere without seeing a teapot and we hadn’t even entered the actual museum yet!

Our lovely hosts were so attentive to us, making sure we had everything we wanted and were so informative about the history of the Museum and Tearooms. The tearooms collection started with a single teapot back in 1974 and has grown to its present collection of more than 5,500 (and about that much again in storage!) and as we speak, the present proprietor Maurice is unpacking another 500 teapots that he has recently acquired!

In essence there is 3 parts to Bygone Beautys. The first is the tearooms which serves the most delicious Devonshire tea, High Tea and Lunch / light refreshments. Then there is the retail space which sells such an amazing range of teapots and teapot related items. The last area is the Teapot Museum. With such and array of items for all over the world in the collection some dating back five centuries there is plenty to explore and a great way to finish off a visit.
