Our “In2theWild” Tiny House stay! 2

Have you ever dreamed of “Going tiny”??

Have you ever dreamed of going “Off Grid”

Or maybe you dream of sleeping in a loft while looking out at the stars above you?

For years I have dreamt all these things, in fact some family members might say I’m overly obsessed with Tiny Homes! ( and they be would correct!)

So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that In2thewild have Luxury Tiny Holiday Homes to stay in! In fact staying a night away in one of their gorgeous Tiny homes went straight to the top of my travel list when I found out!

All of the homes that In2thewild have are within 3 hours of Sydney, making them the ultimate off grid getaway spot. The problem for me was choosing which one to stay in. They are all gorgeous and all in stunning locations, so the decision was a hard one, but the Tiny House that won our hearts was “Christopher”, a beautiful house situated in the Hunter Region.

Driving through the front gates of the property a sense of excitement filled the car. The younger kids were bubbling, looking out at their windows at the cows, horses and kangaroos that greeted us, all the while trying to catch the first glimpse of the tiny home. Meanwhile I was negotiating the track, being guided by my elder child, with my smile getting broader and broader as we got closer to our destination.

And then, suddenly, situated in a glen surrounded by trees, we saw it…. Christopher the Tiny house! The car had barely stopped and the kids were out, running up to the front door, ready to explore the Tiny House. Mind you, I wasn’t far behind!

The first place to be tested out? Was the loft of course… because whats a Tiny house without a cosy loft bed? Up there, we were snug and warm and had plenty of room to keep our gear. At night time, we could see the Milky Way through the hatch in the roof…it was the best way to drift off to sleep. There was another bed, (Christopher caters for up to four) a pull out lounge / bed set up that converts from a seating area during the day to a comfortable sleeping spot for the night.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook up a delicious meal and a well deserved cup of coffee! In fact the kitchen was stocked with some necessities like sauces, tea/ coffee, salt / pepper and oil, and to top it off…. the Tiny House had a survival box! Filled with popping corn, milk, two minute noodles, eye masks and the ultimate… (in my opinion!) marshmallows to toast on the fire! For night time, or bad weather, the cupboards were filled with board games, drawing materials and lots of other activities to keep every body entertained. Considering you are off grid and have no phone / internet reception or TV, then these items could really come in handy!

I cannot leave out the bathroom! Although the overall space was tiny, it had enough room to move around in and the shower was quiet large, probably bigger then our one at home. There were some amazing products in the vanity and luxurious towels on the hanger but the item that really grabs your attention in here is the compost toilet…believe it or not this was something I was really looking forward to seeing in the Tiny house! ( I know I’m a weirdo). My son gave it a real work out over our two day stay so I can confidently say that a compost toilet is really easy to use, isn’t gross and doesn’t smell at all!

Our Tiny House experience would not have been as amazing without the spectacular property it was situated on. Set on a cattle farm of eight thousand acres, we were surrounded by lots of special places to explore and friendly native animals to meet. Our favourite place outside was around the campfire, we caught up on each other lives, cooked our dinner (and breakfast!) told jokes and toasted many many marshmallows!  Life was good!  and to make it even better the tiny house had a hammock under the trees that I got to chill out in and read a book… once I got the kids off it!

What: In2thewild luxury Tiny Homes

Where: Secret locations around NSW (you find out the exact address once you book!)

Price: From $199 per night (price varies between locations)

Need to know: Make sure you print out or save to your phone the instructions and information sheet… without any reception, you will need it to find your tiny house!, you don’t need to bring anything with you except clothes, food and maybe a bottle of wine, the tiny homes are warm and cosy but don’t have heating so make sure you bring warm clothing in winter, especially to sleep in, bring your own wood for the camp fire or buy  some when you book and it will be there for when you arrive, there is so much to explore on the properties and ‘Christopher’ has horse riding available (for an extra cost), don’t forget you are off grid so that means tank water, solar power and of course a compost toilet!
