The last days of 2019 5

Every Year it happens…. every year I realise that the days are flying by and I want to cram in as much as possible in the next couple of weeks. I start scrolling through the internet, I start looking at deals. I constantly look at the calendar checking out what last adventures I can fit in before the year comes to an end.

And so it happened again… the end of October came and I started planning… so this year in a period of 6 weeks I have planned four different trips away.

Want to know what they are?

Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.

This year every child of mine got an experience for their birthdays. My middle daughter turned 21 back in July and a special birthday means a special present, so not only are we going to visit the Western Plains Zoo we are going to sleep over!!! We are staying at the Billabong Camp in Glamping tents and are going to enjoy dinner / breakfast, two walking tours and it also includes a two day visit pass. I haven’t been to the Tarongo Western Plains zoo at Dubbo for about 4 years so we are really looking forward to this!

Camping at Umina Beach.

The younger kids are yearning for a holiday park stay. A caravan park that has a pool, a playground (a jumping pillow of course!) and is close to the beach. While they love bush camping, we all need this type of camping trip every so often… one where the kids can be entertained while I chill out. The added bonus of this weekend is that the majority of it has been covered with a gift card I received off my boss last Christmas (she knows me so well!) so it literally hasn’t cost me anything!

Overnight hike.

I have done it in the past and I’m doing it again this year… going away the last couple of days before Christmas day. I love avoiding all the stress of those last days before Christmas hits, by having some family time. The NSW National Parks have some amazing secluded beach spots down the Central Coast and some require a short hike into. I have been looking at this one particular spot for quiet a while but they are so popular that you often have to book a long time ahead. One night as I was looking online I lucked out and snagged two nights for the kids and I. I think its going to be a great way to spend the last couple of days before Christmas.

Kosciuszko National Park.

We are heading back! Earlier this year we walked to the top of Australia on a day hike and while were there I was already planning on coming back, this time to hike in a different way so we can spend the night out along the trail. Before we carry our packs along the trail we will spend a couple of days chilling out, kayaking and preparing, all while free camping within the park. This is potentially going to be a bit of a challenge for the kids but hopefully if all goes to plan we will be bringing in the new year out in the National Park!

So four adventures planned, all different and all happening before 2020 arrives!

Do you have any travel plans booked in before the new year comes?

We brought our puppy home in September and once he was fully vaccinated on the 1 November, we started planning our pet friendly getaways. We just got back from a lovely long weekend in Port Stephens and are heading off again in a couple of weeks to the Sapphire Coast which we’re really excited about because we’ve never been there before. I take my hat off to you with the camping because the only place I like to camp these days is in a hotel 🙂 Happy Holidays!

I can’t believe that we’re already at November, Your adventures do, however, sound fabulous. We’re off to the UK for Christmas – our very first winter Christmas – and we’re very excited. As an aside, I love your pics – especially the last one with the kids running with their packs on. There’s pure joy in that.

I have no trips planned for this time of the year – I prefer lounging by the beach. I’ve heard the caravan park at Umina is quite a good one. Putty beach campground is lovely too – we camped there in May this year. Hope you have a wonderful couple of months. I can’t believe it’s already mid-November!

Let’s hope the current fire conditions have settled down and you can do these things. I wish that rain would come…we so need it as you know.
Thank you for linking up for life this week. Next week’s optional prompt is 47/51 Do You Celebrate “zero” Birthdays? 25/11/19 Hope to see you there. Denyse
