The kids were excited, I mean who doesn’t like Dinosaurs, right? and as soon as we arrived we were greeted by the biggest/ scariest one of them all… the Tyrannosaurus Rex! This was just the beginning of our immersion into the world of the Dinosaurs, because way down below, in the rainforest were many many more to discover!

Getting down to Dinosaur Valley is part of the fun at Scenic World, because every experience, like the railway, cableway and skyway is included in the entry price, in fact you can ride them over and over again because it is unlimited!! So it was off to ride the Scenic Railway, the steepest railway in the world, down deep into the ancient rainforest, this is  where we would find the start of the walkway that would take us to more amazing Dinosaurs! The elevated walkway in itself takes you to some beautiful spots in the rainforest, the tall ancient Jurassic flora is breathtaking and if you are lucky you might spot a lyrebird!

The kids had been given a Junior ranger guide, a book complete with activities to help the learn more about the Dinosaurs they were going to find along the way. Ivy loved filling out the booklet. stopping to read the signs that were at each point, and sharing her newly gained knowledge with the rest of us! On completion of the booklet remember to take it to a ranger… we forgot ( we were exploring so much!) and they will make the kids a certified junior ranger.

Along the way we ” met ” some of the dinosaurs! Each day,at set times, the rangers give visitors a chance to get up close and personal with some of their Jurassic visitors. We got to meet and pat two dinosaurs… yeah sure they weren’t “real”, but it was so much fun because the rangers were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable! They made it feel like an experience you might do at a zoo, they were talking about how they hand raised the dino’s, what they ate, what they liked to do etc, it was very entertaining, and the younger kids loved it!
