Campervanning in the Hunter Valley. 5

Accommodation within the Hunter Valley can be expensive.

Not only that, they often have a two night stay restriction.

But recently, while researching places to stay for our Hot Air Balloon flight I discovered a cheap and awesome place to stay right in the heart of wine country, as long as you have a campervan…the Hunter Valley Resort.

The Hunter Valley Resort offers many different types of accommodation, from basic rooms to spa cottages to allowing campervans and motorhomes a space to stay. They are the only place to stay in the area that caters for this type of travel and they are well worth checking out.

Basically, if you have a campervan you can park in one of four car spaces for a very reasonable price, when compared to anywhere in the Hunter Valley. The beauty of staying here is that you can access all the facilities that the resort has to offer. The pool, the spa, the tennis court and the barbecue area is all available. You also have access to bathrooms and laundry facilities so your campervan doesn’t have to be self contain. To top it all off the sites are powered and if you have a dog they are more than welcome at the Hunter Valley Resort!

We loved our stay here. We set up our van with a mattress, chucked in our chairs and cooking gear and had a comfortable one night stay. The reception staff were helpful, the showers hot and outlook from the resort was beautiful. We crossed over the road and was greeted by the most beautiful sunset over the vineyards, that we enjoyed while drinking some local wine. The location is fantastic for exploring the area, 10 minutes from the Hunter Valley gardens and with a multitude of  wineries and other attractions surrounding the resort we were spoilt for choice.

Definitely put it on your list if you’re owner of a campervan and you want to stay in the heart of the Hunter Valley.

Where: Cnr of Hermitage road and Mistletoe lane Pokolbin NSW, Australia.

How much: $50 for the site ( same price for however many people are in your vehicle)

Need to know: Spot is only for Campervans / motorhomes NOT tents or caravans or swags!, Remember that it is a carparking space only and you are side to side with other motorhomes, with each booking you receive a voucher for a free wine information session, and you definitely need to check out the cheese factory across the road, onsite there is many activities including segways.

Safe Travels
