Lake Parramatta 18

Its funny how you can spend most of your life being so close to somewhere and not know it existed.

I can honestly say that I cannot remember ever visiting Lake Parramatta, even though I lived about 10 mins away up till I turned 22, and my mother, who I visit regularly, still lives around the corner from here!

After seeing other people, visitors to the area, on social media talking about it, it thought it was about time I went to check it out for myself.

I wasn’t disappointed, with 75 hectares of native bush that houses plenty of native wildlife, it was like an oasis in the middle of the bustling suburbia of Sydney.

Where: Lake Parramatta Reserve, entry is through Lackey st North Parramatta, NSW, Australia.

How Much?: FREE!!! except for boat hire.

Need to know: free BBQ’s, playground, there is a cafe onsite, varying levels of bushwalks take you around the lake, you can swim in the designated area, parking is limited, and if you want to become involved in bushcare in the area there is plenty of opportunity to do so.

I will return, now I know where it is!, to walk the 4.20km bushwalk and paddle down to the end of the lake.

Have you been to Lake Parramatta?

Have you lived close to somewhere but never visited?

Safe Travels

Kerrie
