Norah Head lighthouse is a prominent part of the South coast of Australia, a place where \u00a0tourists flock whether they are passing by or staying for the weekend.<\/p>\n

Opened in 1903 the lighthouse it is still operating today and volunteers offer tours every 1\/2 hour from 10am to 1pm every day.<\/p>\n

I joined a group that only contained another couple and their child, and after paying my $6 we were taken inside ready to climb the 96 stairs to the top. Along the way we received a history lesson on the lighthouse, the people who worked there, the ship wrecks that occurred along these shores and even spotted some whales from up the top! I was amazed to learn that a ship was sunk off these shores due to a World War 2 mine, I didn\u2019t know that happened so close to home!!!<\/p>\n

The lighthouse keepers cottages are still intact, in fact you can stay overnight in them! The views from them would be amazing, what a way to see the sunrise and sunset!<\/p>\n

The tour was great value, little kids might not care too much about the history lesson but the views from up the top were glorious! I could see all the way to Nobbies at Newcastle and apparently on a clear day you can see down to Sydney!<\/p>\n

After taking the tour I walked down the stairs to the rocks and beach. If you walk to the left and follow the coastline around you come across plenty of places you can swim including the Norah Head a rock pool!<\/p>\n

If you are ever in Norah Head or passing by along the coast make sure you check out the lighthouse, even if you don’t have time to go inside for a tour, you won’t be disappointed!<\/p>\n
